Gen Why Media started as a conversation over coffee about generational shifts.
While attending Vancouver-based, non-profit film school Pull Focus Film School, we were interested in the idea that generations unfold in cycles. Every generation lives through times of social crisis and each crisis contains the potential to emerge more civically minded, collectively orientated and with a constructive ethic of social transformation.
With this in mind, we made a short documentary titled Generation Why that explored the potential of Generation Y to fundamentally change social and political structures for the better. The film was well received and we were strongly encouraged by our peers to continue down this road. We did and it’s led us to Gen Why Media.
